Dr. Bjorn Barre, Veterinarian
Dr. Bjorn Barre’s family immigrated from Denmark to California, where he was born. At the young age of four, Dr. Barre’ convinced his family to adopt a stray, pregnant, Santa Ana River cat. This cat along with frogs, fish, birds, mice, and dogs were part of his childhood family. Thus, began his love and passion for animals.
Dr. Barre’ stayed in California to attend college. Bjorn’s undergraduate studies were at UCSD, where he majored in Bio-Chemistry and Cell Biology. He spent a summer studying in Copenhagen, Denmark, learning about his family’s language and culture. As an undergraduate he also worked as a vet assistant under Dr. Watson and Dr. Michael at Rose Canyon Animal Hospital. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2004. His graduate studies then took Bjorn to UC Davis, where he received a nutrition scholarship, volunteered at the spay and neuter clinics for the pets of the local homeless population, participated in Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation fundraising events and finished Veterinary School in 2009. Returning to Rose Canyon Animal Hospital, Dr. Barre joined Dr. Michael’s team.
Dr. Barre’s extended family includes a chocolate lab, Kahlua, a mastiff mixed- breed dog named Piggy, and assorted reptiles and fish. Dr. Barre’ enjoys racquetball, surfing and fishing, even though his love, passion and work with animals keeps him very busy. His extended family continues to grow and now includes the patients and clients at Rose Canyon Animal Hospital. |

Most of our clients know Nicole's voice well. She was our glowing receptionist for a number of years. Recently Nicole has been promoted to hospital manager! A San Diego Native, she had always wanted to work with and around animals. Nicole was a client here first, then jumped right in when we needed a bright voice and smile up front. She says working here is the most rewarding job she has ever had! We nabbed Nicole in September of 2004, and she received her BA degree in Digital Design from the Art Institute of California in January 2005.
Nicole has several "fur babies" at home, including "Bella", a Siberian Husky, "Capone", her mighty Rottweiler, and her cat "Kitty". Dani, Receptionist
One of our bright and friendly faces up front is Dani. She is a California native, born in Oakland and grew up in Long Beach. After moving to San Diego in March of 07, she decided to pursue her dream of working with animals. Her previous experience working in Customer service made her an ideal receptionist.
Dani loves hanging out with her boyfriend Sean and friends, going on road trips, attending concerts and adding to her tattoo collection. As a die hard animal lover and vegetarian, she hopes to work in animal rescue someday. Her furry children include 2 cats: "Whippy", an all black shorthair, and "Macho", a grey tabby she adopted from us her first day at work!
