Dr. Anthony Michael, Practice Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Anthony Michael Originally from Germantown, Ohio, Dr. Michael spent the few years after high school as an exchange student in South America, and attending college in Ohio. Dr. Michael then served in the Navy for 4 years. Following his strong love for animals and nature, he attended UCSD where he received a degree in Ecology in 1991. While attending UCSD, Dr. Michael started as a technician at Clairemont Animal Hospital under Dr. Watson. Dr. Michael attended the School of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis, spending vacations and breaks at Clairemont Animal Hospital. Once graduated in 1995, he was brought on as an Associate Doctor working alongside Dr. Watson. Dr. Michael now owns Rose Canyon Animal Hospital and tends his business and employees with as much TLC as his clients and patients.

Dr. Michael belongs to AVMA, CVMA and the SDVMA in addition to volunteering his time and skills to VWAH (Veterinarians for World Animal Health), making annual trips to Mexico for spay/neuter and animal care clinics. He also supports the San Diego Humane Society and regularly contributes to the Union Tribune's Adopt-a-pet program.

During his small amounts of free time, Dr. Michael loves sailing, snow skiing, traveling and spending time with his 2 dogs- "Chase" the Golden Retriever, and "Rye" the Chocolate Lab.

Stephanie Bietau, Hospital Manager
Stephanie Enjoying working with people and customer service, Stephanie spent most of her college years successfully managing retail stores such as Bombay Company and Williams-Sonoma. She earned her BA in Art History and Photography from UCSD in 1999, and started looking for something fun, interesting and rewarding to do. Stephanie's first veterinary job began with Rose Canyon Animal Hospital in June 1999. Beginning as a receptionist, she soon learned how to work with the animals and assist the doctors as a technician. In November 2000, she became the Hospital Manager for the Animal ER of San Diego in Kearny Mesa. Fast-paced and exciting, the ER gave Stephanie a deep appreciation for the veterinary world. In 2004, Dr. Michael called Stephanie back to Rose Canyon, asking her to be his new Hospital Manager as he acquired the hospital.

Stephanie enjoys her little black cat "Psycho", finding new restaurants to try, and traveling the world as much as possible! She attends the annual VWAH trip to Mexico, and is involved with the Clairemont Chamber of Commerce.

Kim, Technician
Kim Kim is our resident Mid-Westerner- hailing from St. Paul Minnesota. Knowing she might enjoy some nice weather, she came to San Diego in 2001 to attend SDSU. Kim came to Rose Canyon in February 2004. Her original plan was to major in marine biology, but her love of all animals moved her to graduate with a BS degree in Biology, emphasis in Zoology in May 2004. Future plans may include Vet School, with the intention of a career as a Zoo Vet, and possibly checking out some of the other great cities in the US.

Kim enjoys time with her 2 cats- "Lucy" the tabby, and "Sophie", and orange tabby rescue. Traveling to other interesting cities is a favorite pastime for her, as well as scrapbooking those pictures and going to concerts. Kim also gets involved in the annual VWAH trip to Mexico.

Amanda, Technician

Amanda Amanda came to us when she returned to her hometown of San Diego, after spending her freshman year at UC Berkeley. Now attending UCSD, she majors in Microbiology, with a minor in Social Health Care Issues. These topics interest her in particular since survived cancer in her teen years. Amanda plans to attend Medical School, although she says Vet School is becoming more and more appealing!

Amanda's family includes a nutty pug named "Diesel", a tabby named "Narf" (or commonly called Bad Kitty), and a lovable black and white stray named "Skunk". Her big heart has also fostered a few other kitties since she has been with us. Amanda is involved in various outreach and tutoring programs, and joins the Hospital on our annual VWAH trips to Mexico. She enjoys swimming, sailing, car and motorcycle racing and traveling.

Nicole, Receptionist
Nicole Most of our clients know Nicole's voice well. She is our glowing receptionist! A San Diego Native, she had always wanted to work with and around animals. Nicole was a client here first, then jumped right in when we needed a bright voice and smile up front. She says working here is the most rewarding job she has ever had! We nabbed Nicole in September of 2004, and she received her BA degree in Digital Design from the Art Institute of California in January 2005.

Nicole has several "fur babies" at home, including "Bella", a Siberian Husky, "Capone", her mighty Rottweiler, and her cat "Kitty". Nicole married her husband Justin in May of 2004, and enjoys spending time with him and going to the movies.

Dani, Receptionist

DaniOur newest friendly face and voice is Dani. She is a California native, born in Oakland and grew up in Long Beach. After moving to San Diego in March of 07, she decided to pursue her dream of working with animals. Her previous experience working in Customer service made her an ideal receptionist.

Dani loves hanging out with her boyfriend Sean and friends, going on road trips, attending concerts and adding to her tattoo collection. As a die hard animal lover and vegetarian, she hopes to work in animal rescue someday. Her furry children include 2 cats: "Whippy", an all black shorthair, and "Macho", a grey tabby she adopted from us her first day at work!
